Abernathy Rebuild Day 5

March 23rd, 2018

After a chilly start to the morning, we had nice weather for most of the day. Clouds started to roll in later in the day, but we avoided the rain. Since both were so appreciated yesterday, we again had a fire and hot coffee there to keep our volunteers warm. With only one more day left in the rebuild project, we've begun to shift focus to finalizing sections of the boardwalks so that the park can be safely reopened to the public.

Jo Ann Abernathy, the late Mayor Abernathy's wife, stopped by for a bit to check out the park's progress today as well.

Again, thanks to all of our hardworking volunteers, and also a special thanks to Pickens County Councilman Ensley Feemster who sponsored lunch for the day. Mr. Feemster had a meeting this morning, but he came back during the afternoon shift to donate his time to helping rebuild as well.
