Sewer Overflow Notification

Sewer Overflow Notification

April 18th, 2018

A sewer overflow occurred behind 114 Earle Street from 9:00pm until 1:00am.  As a provider of sanitary sewers for the City of Clemson, the Utilities Department has an obligation to notify our customers when an overflow event happens in the area.

The overflow was approximately 2,500 gallons due to a sewer main being stopped up.  A Utilities crew was dispatched to repair the main.  The overflow did reach a drainage ditch and small stream behind Riggs Drive.  This ditch drains to a small stream behind 108 to102 Riggs Drive, 398 College Avenue and then through Jaycee Park.  We recommend staying clear of the area and out of the creek for the next week to allow the area to return to its natural state.  The Utility crew is currently cleaning and decontaminating the area.  Sewer Overflow signs are posted in the area.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If you have any questions you may contact the Utilities Department at 653-2046 during normal working hours or Police Dispatch at 624-2000 after hours.
