Public Input on 405 College Avenue

Public Input on 405 College Avenue

Event date: 7/2/2019 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Export event

In an effort to avoid confusion or frustration, the City encourages the public to review the attached sign-in sheet for those wishing to speak at a Board of Architectural Review (BAR) meeting. Unlike projects that go before the Planning Commission or City Council (such as Planned Developments including Keowee Trail and Dockside and Major Subdivisions such as Clemson Cottages on Pendleton Road), public comment on projects before the BAR are limited to architecture and design only. The specific subject areas open for comment are outlined in the attached sign-in sheet.

By the time a project comes before the BAR, the decision regarding the use, the density, the setbacks, the height, and parking have all been determined by the Zoning Ordinance (which was approved by the Planning Commission and City Council after public input) and there is nothing the public or BAR can do to change those things. However, public input is welcomed and invited in regard to how the project will look. So, if you wish to express concerns about the amount of student housing in Clemson, the need for non-student housing, the size of buildings, concerns about traffic, or concerns about the amount of commercial space in town, please bring those concerns to City Council or the Planning Commission.

If you wish to speak about the architecture of the project at 405 College or simply wish to learn more about the project, then please attend the regularly scheduled (the 1st Tuesday of every month) BAR meeting on July 2nd at 6:00 p.m.
