City of Clemson to Take Over Management of Twelve Mile Recreation Area

City of Clemson to Take Over Management of Twelve Mile Recreation Area

On March 16th, 2021, the Clemson City Council signed a contract with the Army Corps of Engineers to manage and improve 12 Mile Recreation Area located on Lake Hartwell.

The Army Corps of Engineers had scheduled this area to close indefinitely, but the Clemson City Council stepped up to take over management and keep 12 Mile open. The Clemson Parks and Recreation Department is working diligently to get all of the facilities in the park cleaned and ready for public use. This requires hiring new staff, identifying a contractor to clean the park, and completing minor construction improvements to address ADA requirements.

While accomplishing this, the city must close the park Monday through Friday but will open the park on Saturday and Sunday until all of these resources are acquired and in place. We apologize for any inconvenience while we work on these park improvements.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, they are asked to please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 864-624-1120.
