Cold Weather Precautions

Cold Weather Precautions

Over the coming week, our area will experience dangerously cold temperatures.

Temperatures are expected to drop below freezing by 8pm tonight and highs for the rest of the week are not expected to get out of the mid 40s throughout the week. Morning and evenings are expected to have windchills in the teens. This weekend is anticipated to be the coldest with highs hovering right around freezing.

The City of Clemson would like to remind you of the following guidelines to ensure the safety of you, your family, your pets, and the community:

  • While no precipitation is expected, please be aware of any areas where water collects as it may freeze overnight.
  • Keep your heat on, even if you're leaving town, to help keep pipes from freezing over (unless, of course, your heat source involves burning wood - please don't leave fires unattended).
  • Drip your faucets - hot and cold taps - also to help keep pipes from freezing over. (If you have outside faucets, wrap/protect those as well.)
  • Bring/keep your pets indoors.
  • If you or someone you know needs emergency shelter, call the City of Clemson Police Department at 864-624-2000.

Stay safe. Stay warm.
