City of Clemson Receives Aa2 Moody's Rating

City of Clemson Receives Aa2 Moody's Rating

The City of Clemson is excited to announce that it has been assigned an Aa2 initial user rating and an Aa2 rating for its Water and Sewer System Revenue Bonds, Series 2024. These ratings signify that the bonds are of high quality with very low credit risk.

The estimated $30 million from these bonds will be used to fund the City's share of upgrades to the Pendleton/Clemson wastewater treatment plant, advanced metering infrastructure, and upgrades to pump station 5, 7 and sewer trunk line.

This is the first time the City has sought a bond rating. According to the Moody’s Ratings report, the Aa2 ratings reflect “the City’s strong local economy that benefits from direct proximity to Clemson University.” The report emphasizes that “Governance is a key driver of this rating action, reflecting the city's track record of conservative financial management, surplus operations, and adherence to strong fiscal policies."
