DEEP FREEZE AHEAD!
From Sunday evening through Thursday, our area's temperatures are forecast to drop - and remain - below freezing. While it won't be record cold for our area, the main takeaway: this is multiple days in a row of at or below freezing temperatures! NOW is the time to prepare for this arctic air, as these temperatures can be a serious danger.
The City of Clemson would like to remind you of the following guidelines to ensure the safety of you, your family, your pets, and the community:
• In the event of any precipitation, please be aware of any areas where water collects as it may freeze overnight.
• Keep your heat on, even if you're leaving town, to help keep pipes from freezing over. (Unless, of course, your heat source involves burning wood/open flames. Please don't leave fires unattended.)
• Drip your faucets - hot and cold taps - to help keep pipes from freezing over. (If you have outside faucets, wrap/protect those as well.) If possible, open the cabinet doors around pipes to allow more warm air access.
• Bring/keep your pets indoors.
• If you have to go out, dress warmly, covering exposed skin
• If you or someone you know needs emergency assistance or shelter, call the City of Clemson Police Department at 864-624-2000.
Stay safe. Stay warm.
