Temperatures have already started plummeting, and the seriously bitter cold is forecasted to hold on through Thursday. This multi-day deep freeze is the coldest air of the season. Will our area see another round of snow? The latest models are showing drier air as keeping us from another snow day, while Columbia and the coastline could experience an extremely rare wintry mix. Stay prepared. Stay safe. Stay warm.
Prepare Yourself: Dress warmly, covering exposed skin.
Prepare Your Car: Keep your gas tank half full and maintain tire pressure. Pack a safety kit.
Prepare Your Pets: Bring/keep your pets indoors.
Prepare Your Home: Keep your heat on and drip your faucets to keep pipes from freezing over. If you have outside faucets, wrap/protect those as well. Open the cabinet doors around pipes to allow more warm air access.
REMEMBER: If you or someone you know needs assistance or shelter, please call the non-emergency phone line at 864-624-2000.

DEEP FREEZE AHEAD!
From Sunday evening through Thursday, our area's temperatures are forecast to drop - and remain - below freezing. While it won't be record cold for our area, the main takeaway: this is multiple days in a row of at or below freezing temperatures! NOW is the time to prepare for this arctic air, as these temperatures can be a serious danger.
The City of Clemson would like to remind you of the following guidelines to ensure the safety of you, your family, your pets, and the community:
• In the event of any precipitation, please be aware of any areas where water collects as it may freeze overnight.
• Keep your heat on, even if you're leaving town, to help keep pipes from freezing over. (Unless, of course, your heat source involves burning wood/open flames. Please don't leave fires unattended.)
• Drip your faucets - hot and cold taps - to help keep pipes from freezing over. (If you have outside faucets, wrap/protect those as well.) If possible, open the cabinet doors around pipes to allow more warm air access.
• Bring/keep your pets indoors.
• If you have to go out, dress warmly, covering exposed skin
• If you or someone you know needs emergency assistance or shelter, call the City of Clemson Police Department at 864-624-2000.
Stay safe. Stay warm.
