City Council Member Robert Halfacre


Council Member Robert Halfacre

Council member Robert Halfacre grew up in Clemson and has lived here most of his adult life, during which time he has been highly active in the local community.

Robert’s career in banking began at the young age of 17 when he was hired as a teller at SC National Bank. A few years later, in 1995, he obtained a B.A. in Financial Management from University of Georgia at Athens; he was hired after graduation by Wachovia, where he worked in several positions both in Anderson and Clemson. Since then, he has also held positions at First Citizens, BB&T, and Wells Fargo. Since November 2016, he has worked with Park National Bank as the Senior Vice President, Commercial Banking Officer, and Market Executive covering Pickens and Oconee counties.

Robert has served on innumerable boards and committees over the past 22 years. Currently, he serves as a Pickens Y Mentor at Clemson Elementary School and is involved with the Clemson Community Foundation, Daniel High School Foundation, the SC Works TriCounty Board, and the TriCounty Entrepreneurial Development Corporation, as well as a variety of other boards. Prior to his election to City Council, he was on the City’s Economic Development Advisory Committee from 2016 to 2018, serving as Chair in 2018, and he completed the Leadership Clemson program in 2004. He is also the recipient of two Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce awards: the Catherine Smith Award for Outstanding Service to the Clemson Area Community in 2006 and the Business Person of the Year Award in 2015.

Robert is very proud of his family. He and his wife, Lara, have been married for over 18 years and have two teenage children: Blake and Addison.
