Notice of Public Hearing

The Clemson City Council will hold a public hearing on the matter listed below.  The session will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2022 in the Council Chambers in City Hall, 1250 Tiger Boulevard, Clemson, SC 29631.

Hearing Topic:

2022-R-01 Proposed Text Amendment:  City Code Section 19-1104 of Chapter 19 (Zoning) currently requires any alterations/additions to structures in Architectural Review Districts that increase impervious site area or gross floor area to meet all standards established for the particular district.  The proposed amendment would provide the Board of Architectural Review the ability, on a case-by-case basis for projects that result in increases of no more than 25% of the gross floor area of a primary building or 1,000 sq. ft., whichever is less, to waive certain standards deemed unnecessary or inappropriate for the particular proposed project.

2022-R-06 Proposed Text Amendment: Rear setback requirements for single-family residences on properties abutting Corps of Engineers property in R-20 and R-12 Residential Districts are currently 5 feet, with the requirement for such properties in other residential districts 15 feet.  Also, Conditional Use standards require private recreational facilities (such as pools, tennis courts, etc.) abutting Corps of Engineers property to be set back 10 feet.  In order to provide for greater consistency, the proposed amendment will amend Chapter 19 (Zoning) of City Code to make rear setback requirements for all single-family residences on residential properties abutting Corps of Engineers property 5 feet; and, reduce the Conditional Use Standard for private recreational facilities abutting Corps of Engineers property to 5 feet.

2022-R-08 Proposed Text Amendment: City Code does not currently contain clearly defined standards that govern the operation of outdoor event facilities located in the Commercial Mixed-Use (CM) District.  In order to provide clarity and better address existing and potential new such facilities, the proposed text amendment establishes rules governing sound, access, design, and other issues associated with outdoor event facilities.
