Notice of Public Hearing
The City of Clemson City Council will hold a livestreamed public hearing at 6:15 p.m. on July 20, 2020 in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the item described below. Please note that due to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, City Hall is currently closed to the public; everyone is invited to view the hearing on the City of Clemson YouTube channel. Comments may be submitted by telephone during the hearing by dialing 864-653-9886 and following the instructions.
Public Hearing Topic: 2020-R-03 Proposed Text Amendment (Channel Letters)
The proposed text amendment stems from a Board of Architectural Review recommendation to allow for channel letter signage located in certain areas of the City to be lighted by either gooseneck lighting or internal lighting. As drafted, the existing prohibition on internally lit signage in AR Districts 1, 2, and 6 will be amended to permit channel letter signage, with the stipulation that in AR-1 Core no internally lit channel letter signage would be allowed to face College Avenue. It should be noted that the illumination of all signage in the districts would remain restricted to 0.3 foot-candles above ambient light.
