Clemson University SARS-CoV-2 in Wastewater Monitoring Record Update July 13th, 2020

Clemson University SARS-CoV-2 in Wastewater Monitoring Record Update July 13th, 2020

Clemson University continues to test the levels of SARS-CoV-2 in the University and City Wastewater Treatment Facilities, including the University Plant, Clemson's Cochran Road Plant, and the Pendleton Plant, which also serves a portion of the City of Clemson. Dr. David Freedman presented some of these testing results to Council at the Special Called Meeting on June 24th.

The full results as of July 13th are included below, and other results are forthcoming. We will continue to update as we receive more test results.

These results continue to indicate that the virus is being actively transmitted in the Clemson area and show an increased presence in the on-campus results. Results from the Cochran Road and Pendleton/Clemson WWTPs show a decreased presence, but these levels are still in Concern Level III. Also, note that the July 7th results may have been diluted due to significant rainfall during that time.

Wearing a face covering has been shown to decrease the likelihood of transmission, especially when done in conjunction with social distancing, and we're hopeful the mask ordinance will continue to show numbers trending downwards in our area.
