The City of Clemson City Council will hold a livestreamed public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on November 16, 2020 in the Council Chambers at City Hall on the item described below.

2020-R-04 Proposed Text Amendment (Private Streets Prohibition)
As drafted the proposed text amendment bans the construction of new private streets; requires any modification of street standards required by site conditions to be approved by both the City Engineer and Director of Planning and Codes; requires the owner of existing private streets proposed to be taken over by the City to obtain and pay for a third-party engineer’s evaluation; prohibits the use of existing private streets as public thoroughfares; clarifies that all new streets are to be designed, constructed, and proposed for acceptance as public streets; and requires all existing private streets be maintained, to the degree possible, to the same standards as public streets.
The session will include an overview of the proposed changes presented by staff prior to the opportunity for public input. Copies of documents are linked below.
