Cleanup and Recovery Updates - October 14, 2024

Cleanup and Recovery Updates - October 14, 2024

October 16, 2024

Breaking!  Hwy 123 at College Ave south bound turn lane (towards Seneca), is closed until further notice for AT&T emergency repair
All lanes are now open.

Our City crews continue to work through zones to clear street side brush. While our crews did do a first pass through on state/county roads, SCDOT will soon be coming through to do additional clearing and pick-up. If you have any questions, please contact the public works department at 864-653-2053. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue these cleanup efforts.

As you clear and repair damage on your property, please note the following reminders:

  • Contractors must pull permits for storm damage repairs to avoid delays in getting power approvals submitted to the power company. We are doing our best to expedite inspections for storm related damage to restore power as quickly as possible. For questions regarding permitting, please contact the Planning and Development department at 864-653-2050.

  • If you hire a contractor, please remind them that the city is not responsible for removing construction and demolition debris, including waste from professional tree companies. For more information on city regulations, refer to Code Sec. 9-29.

Relief Efforts

  • Help us finish strong in the “Two for Two: One for Them (NC/TN) and One for You (Clemson Community” donation drive! This donation drive seeks to help our neighbors close to home while aiding in the daunting recovery of Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. If you’re willing and able to help, donations will be accepted through October 18th.
  • Also, One of our officers with the City of Clemson Police Department is collecting donations for those in Western North Carolina and Tennessee affected by the hurricane and will be taking these donations himself to North Carolina. Drop off these donations at City Hall Council Chambers until October 31st. Items needed include bee sting relief, lanterns, trash bags, and tents.

Our Community has been incredibly gracious and generous, and we appreciate everyone's contributions, no matter how big or small.
