Winter Weather Alerts and Updates

Winter Weather Alerts and Updates

Update: January 12th, 2025 - 4:00pm

As the snow has mostly melted, roads have become safer to drive, so all CATbus routes have returned to normal schedule as of noon today. Third shift routes will run as normally scheduled.

Update: January 11th, 2025 - 12:30pm

Due to the possibility of wet roads refreezing, CATbus operations will stop today at 8pm. This decision is made out of an abundance of caution to ensure employees and passengers are as safe as possible.

Sunday routes are expected to resume at 10am, pending weather conditions.

CATbus will continue to assess road conditions throughout the day.

Update: January 11th, 2025 - 9:30am

The Central-Clemson Recreation Center will be closed Saturday, January 11th. The Center will resume normal operating hours on Sunday, January 12th, pending weather conditions.

Update: January 10th, 2025 - 1:30pm

Governor McMaster has declared a State of Emergency in South Carolina, with the National Weather Service forecasting significant snow, sleet, and ice. Your safety is the top priority. Please take all necessary precautions in this storm.

Update: January 10th, 2025 - 11:30am

ALL CATbus operations will cease by 12:15pm

Road conditions are deteriorating quickly. For the safety of yourself and others, please stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary. Stay Safe. Stay Warm.

Here’s what you need to know:

Staying Informed

Reporting Issues

  • To report power or internet outages, please contact your service provider.
  • In the event of water line breaks and street obstructions, please contact the Police non-emergency number at 864-624-2000.

Stay Safe

Remember The 4 P’s: Plants, Pipes, Pets, People
  • Cover or bring your plants inside
  • Wrap any outdoor exposed water pipes, leave your heat on, and drip your faucets – hot and cold taps – to help prevent pipes from freezing and bursting
  • Bring or keep your pets indoors (or, if you have pets that cannot/refuse to come indoors, be sure they have an insulated shelter.)
  • Remember the safety of people – your safety is the most important.
    • Stay home and off the roads during hazardous conditions. If you are unable to stay off the roads, please exercise extreme caution for the safety of yourself and others. Remember black ice is not always easy to see. (In the event a power outage affects traffic lights, treat all intersections as four-way stops.)
    • Dress warmly if you go outdoors and cover as much of your skin as possible.
    • Check on your friends, family, and neighbors throughout the event.
    • In the event of power outages in the city limits of Clemson, Littlejohn Community Center will open to provide warmth, charging stations and restrooms to the public.
    • If you or someone you know needs emergency shelter, call the Police non-emergency number at 864-624-2000.
